No. Your regular phone number stays untouched when you add an eSIM. Most devices let both your home SIM and the eSIM work at the same time.

You can still receive calls and texts on your original number. Friends, family, and bank apps reach you the same way as always. Or you can turn off your regular number completely to prevent accidental roaming charges for incoming calls.

If you keep your regular SIM active, disable the data switching feature in your phone settings. This prevents your phone from automatically switching back to your home SIM for mobile data while you're still in France.

The countdown begins only when your eSIM connects to a mobile network at your destination. For this to happen, your eSIM must be turned on, selected as your mobile data line, and have data roaming enabled.
